Personalized Prosthetics
Front Room Underfashions offers custom prosthetics. Here's how it works.
Step 1: Pre-Scanning Consultation
Your fitter will meet with you to help you determine if a custom prosthesis is the right choice for you.
During your pre-scanning consultation, your fitter will present and review a set of expectations, show you color options, discuss payment options and detail the scanning process. This will give you an idea of what to expect from your new prosthesis and the quick and easy scanning process.
If you and your fitter decide an ABC Custom Breast Prosthesis is the right choice for you, you will then be fit in a bra suitable for scanning. She will look for specific fit characteristics to ensure your prosthesis fits like a puzzle piece to your unique contours and review color options with you.
Once fit, your fitter will keep the bra until the date of your personal scan session to ensure its availability.
Step 2: Personal Scan Session
Whether you need a full prosthesis or a partial prosthesis, your personal scan session will be quick and easy!
On the day of your personal scan session, wear a separate top and bottom. Your fitter will begin the session by fitting you in the bra in which you were fit during your pre-scanning consultation. She will also review the scan process and provide you with some simple instructions.
Then a series of removable, reflective stickers will be applied to your torso and bra and reference pictures will be taken. Next, two scans will be made with a state-of-the-art, 3D scanner: one with your bra on and one with your bra off. That’s it!
After your personal scan session, your unique scan files will be electronically transmitted to the ABC Development Team in Marietta, GA. A team of dedicated breast form designers will then use CAD-based, reverse engineering to create a custom prosthesis with accuracy and detail to your specifications.
Step 3: Personal Fitting
Today is the day you start a new journey to a fuller life!
Your fitter will contact you to set up a personal fitting appointment when she receives your finished prosthesis. Please allow at least 45-60 minutes for your personal fitting. It is important to allow ample time because, not only will your fitter fit your prosthesis to your unique contours, she will present and review the care instructions and warranty with you.
You will initially be fit in the bra in which you were scanned. Moving forward, feel free to be adventurous and try different bras. You may find many different bra styles complement your new custom prosthesis!
